Daniela Parker Announced as Weaver Vale PPC for next General Election

The Lib Dems constituency Party in Weaver Vale are pleased to announce that they have selected Daniela Parker as their prospective parliamentary candidate (PPC).

Our previous candidate Paul Roberts who is standing in the CWaC 2019 local election for the ward of Farndon commented “I am delighted that Daniela – who lives in the constituency – has been appointed as the Weaver Vale PPC. I’m sure she will make a real impact and get a much improved Lib Dem result at the next General Election, whenever it happens”.

Daniela said “I am thrilled to have been selected as the PPC for Weaver Vale. I am committed to working with all the members of the local community and demonstrating that our Party’s policies can deliver a real improvement in people’s lives. Whether that is campaigning against Fracking in our constituency to a fair funding model for our NHS I believe we offer a much-needed alternative to the Labour and the Tories who are being dictated to by the extremists in their parties.

I am delighted to already have been able to start putting together my campaign team, and in the new year we will start planning our campaign strategy with my goal to become the Liberal Democrat MP for Weaver Vale”.

Background
Daniela lives in Cheshire with her husband and daughter and works within the Charitable sector with Victims and Witnesses of Crime. She read Psychology at the University of Wales, Bangor and went on to work for 12 years with substance misusing offenders in custody and supporting them in their recovery.

Daniela is active in her local community and has worked with her neighbours to improve the appearance of their urban village and campaign for safer roads as well as objecting to more housing developments in the area.

Daniela is passionate about a number of issues including healthcare and in particular improving the provision of mental health services. As well as the criminal justice system, including both the rehabilitation of offenders and the experience of victims and witnesses. As the daughter of an Italian father and a British mother she classes herself as pro European, and has been campaigning for an ‘Exit-from-Brexit’.

More good news for Northwich, what about Winsford?

Image: Winsford Guardian

The headlines and even a TV documentary in the last few weeks have suggested that Marks and Spencer and other retailers like House of Fraser are in an irreversible decline. The traditional high street is under real pressure not just from the internet but also the growth of out of town retail. Big increases in rents and in particular Business Rates have also made what was was once many traditional retailers biggest strength into a big weakness

Sky News’s Adam Boulton also recently suggested HERE that the death of the High Street is nigh!

It’s really important that our local Councils Cheshire West and Cheshire East respond to changing events with a radical new approach to how to develop and improve our town centres. Town centre’s perhaps need to be redeveloped as mixed-use spaces. Yes, some high-quality retail space for local retailers but also social ( cafe’s restaurants etc ) and residential space too.

In this climate, Cheshire West’s decision to develop Baron’s Quay at Northwich and create more retail space seems very unwise. This raises additional concerns about Winsford which is at a much earlier stage of redevelopment

Lib Dem Winsford Cllr Charlie Parkinson commented that Chesire West and Chester’s announcements of a new Weaver Square consultation for a new master plan for Northwich was a case of  ”More good news for Northwich, what about Winsford? ..millions more.. poured into Northwich to try and rescue Barons Quay…is Winsford being kicked into the long grass yet again ?’

Let’s hope Winsford doesn’t suffer more delays and that lessons are learned and the mistakes in Northwich are not repeated.

Richard Dawson – Eddisbury and Weaver Vale Liberal Democrats

Report from Lib Dem North West Region Spring Conference 2018 – Daniela Parker and John Edwards

Excellent performance from the Eddisbury and Weaver Vale team on Saturday 16th March with both Vera and Paul Roberts extremely capably chairing and generally being their usual supportive selves.

Special mention also to Daniela Parker who stole the show with her well practiced and smooth delivery on the leasehold policy motion (with a strong summation from Paul again).Conference endorsed this unanimously.

John Edwards eloquently presented his radical new motion regarding lifting pensioners from poverty, which was also unanimously supported by conference. Thanks also to Ian Priestner for his excellent summation. It was backed by Andrew Haldane who tipped it as having the potential to be passed by Federal conference and put his support behind supporting John and our local party in achieving this goal.

Good to see E&WV members making such an impact on Policy.
