Tarporley Railway Station and the Government Rail Strategy : Ian Priestner

My Statement to the Media

Tarporley and surrounding towns and villages have been completely ignored in the Conservative government’s latest rail strategy.

Local people, backed by the Liberal Democrats, have been clamouring for the re-opening of Tarporley and Beeston Castle Station but have been snubbed by the Tories. Over 1100 local residents have signed a petition (see HERE) calling for the re-opening of the Station.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Ian Priestner said:

“For too long the people of Tarporley have been ignored by the Tories.

“The local economy will be greatly boosted by improvements to the local rail infrastructure. The Conservative MP and Councillor have completely failed to stand up for local interests.

“This is a wasted opportunity to fix our local railway, vital for commuting and business alike. Instead, the Tories have gone off track leaving Tarporley and its residents shunted into a siding “

Update on the Tarporley Rail Station Campaign

Ian Priestner our 2017 GE CandidateĀ in Eddisbury reports,

I am delighted to have been invited by Beeston Parish Council to discuss plans and prospects for the Tarporley Railway Station reopening campaign.
Beeston, alongside Tarporley itself, will benefit directly from reopening the station.
With plans for HS2 gathering steam, it is even more important to improve our local rail infrastructure, for too long neglected.
I will let you know how our discussions develop.
If you want to join me at the Parish Council on the evening of 7.30 pm on Tuesday 7th November 2017 at Peckforton & Beeston Village Room please do.
If you haven’t already please sign my petition
